We are a small farm in Cove,
Arkansas. We have Australian
Shepherds, Australian Cattle Dogs,
goats, sheep, cattle, pigs and
numerous poultry, all pasture raised,
except the dogs, they're house raised.
On our farm, all the dogs are allowed to
be dogs. They have 15 fenced acres,
so they get plenty of exercise. They
also can pick up hitch hikers as in
fleas, ticks, etc. We are doing most of
our parasite control naturally. Our main
controllers are 40 some chickens,
guineas, ducks and geese, all running
loose on the farm. When a new animal
comes here, the first things they are
taught is how to get along with different
species. If there is a trespasser, the
animals band together to help protect
each other. Strange to see a pig
protecting a goat, but they do. Even if
the animals don't like each other, they
will still band together. It is working well.
My son, Brody and I, also show our
dogs,(although not as often since fuel
prices went up).
